This illustration of a two-headed serpent was the basis for the navigation bar crafted for Stonecliff Publishing. The image was drawn from a photograph of an ancient painted mural in Mexico. The elements were outlined and colored, and scales were drawn on the body which serves as the background for buttons linking to other pages in the site.
The illustration at right was originally conceived for a site dealing with orchids.
The background lattice was drawn from scratch in Illustrator. Individual orchids were cut out from photos; some were colorized to indicate the range of shades available; and then the orchids were applied in several layers in Photoshop.
Shadows were applied to each element to give a three-dimensional quality.

The barbeque grill drawings at right are completely computer-drawn from scratch. They were used for a personalized party invitation.
All work was done entirely in Photoshop, from creating the flames to crafting the wood-grained handles and metallic lid.

The yellow perch illustration was one of the most detailed and exacting projects I've taken on. As you can see from the enlargement at right, the drawing had an incredible level of detail, from the dimensional, shaded quality of each individual scale to the translucence of the fins. This image was done in Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Photoshop. Everything from the individual scales to the reflections of the water was done entirely from scratch. The original is print-quality (300 ppi) and more than 18 inches wide. You may click on these smaller images to see larger views; however, please be patient, because even the smaller web-sized versions are pretty large and may take awhile to open. I wanted you to be able to see the level of detail for yourself.

The illustration at left was created for an article on highway worker safety. It features bright colors in a flat, almost cartoon-like image, useful to get attention quickly. Similarly, the very graphic quality of the woman eating a ripe strawberry, right, can be an effective illustrative device. In contrast to the more realistic renderings above, these two drawings highlight a different style of illustration. Posters, CD covers and brochures often feature this style of illustration.
